Tavistock firsts v Thorverton
TAVISTOCK entertained Thorverton in a must win game to keep up hopes of promotion.
Thorverton batted first and immediately were bogged down by accurate bowling from Snyman and McGahey.
The scoreboard rarely moved and after 12 overs only 24 had been scored.
Tavistock captain Daymond introduced himself and the run rate slowed again. He bowled a superb spell of nine overs, three maidens, three wickets for 10 runs and did not go for a boundary in his best spell of the season.
The Barriball brothers backed up their captain and, with three wickets between them, continued to thwart the visitors.
Only Barton, batting at number eight, managed to break free with 50 not out. But a final total of 150 was way below par.
Tavistock set off in pursuit of the total.
Snyman and Gray reached 50 before Snyman departed. Billy Barriball joined Gray and they dominated the bowling, easing themselves to the target with nine overs to spare. Gray finished on 59 not out and Barriball on 45 not out, to give a convincing nine wicket victory.
It means with one game to go, Tavistock are third in the league, just six points behind Seaton.
