2019 was a good year for cyclo-cross rider Rosie Andrews from Tavistock.
The Tavistock College student’s racing year started in March with her first national competition in Nottingham, culminating in the National Championships at the end of July.
‘My goal for the season was to finish in the top five in the UK national rankings when competing in my second season of youth female,’ she said. ‘I achieved fifth position in the British Cycling UK national rankings and feel very proud of this achievement. After having two months off, I started this year’s cyclo-cross season as a junior. Since September I have competed in seven races and finished first junior female in every one.’
Last weekend Rosie competed in the Regional Championships in Taunton and won the title of South West Champion junior female — another title which she is proud to hold.
Rosie said: ‘It has been a very busy and tiring year but filled with achievements that I am very happy about.’
She thanked Devonport Royal Dockyard Sports and Social Club, Tavistock College Endowment Fund, Certini Bicycle Company and her parents for their support.
