CYCLISTS were out in force on Sunday to take part in the Dartmoor Classic, a non-commercial Sportive cycling challenge promoted by the Mid-Devon Cycling Club.

Many West Devon riders took part in the annual event.

The Dartmoor Classic offered a choice of three routes — the Grande (107 miles/173km), the Medio (68 miles/110 km) or the Debutante (35 miles/54 km). The Grande and Medio routes were open to all, while the Debutante is a women only route, run in support of British Cycling Breeze Rides. All routes start and finish from the event's 'Welcome Village', at Newton Abbot Racecourse.

The riders, in the longest route started in Newton Abbot and headed across the moor towards Dartmeet and Princetown, down to Tavistock, up to Lydford before returning to Princetown and on to Moretonhampstead.

Every cyclist participating in the Dartmoor Classic can be confident that they will be fully supported from start to finish.
