Bovey Tracey 2
AFTER last weeks win at Camelford the Lambs turned in what was possibly their worst performance to date this season, when they lost at home to mid-table Bovey Tracey.
The Moorlanders deserved their win after putting in a dominant performance at Langsford Park. The home team never looked like producing the level they achieved at Camelford.
The visitors took control from the kick off, and should have taken the lead in the 15th minute, but Dean Smith made a fine save to deny Bowker from scoring.
The Lambs were finding it difficult to get control in the middle of the park, as Bovey proved what an efficient side they are. They closed the home team down quickly when they did not have the ball, and pressed them high up the field.
Bovey were again denied by Smith in the 25th minute when he made a great save, pushing the ball away for a corner kick. The Lambs first real attack on goal in the 30th minute when Rooke and Kelly combined well, but Kelly's shot went wide of the target.
Bovey opened the scoring in the 36th minute when, after a corner kick, two shots were blocked, the ball fell to Dan Taylor fired low into the corner of the net.
Having failed to take their chances, it was always possible that the home team may sneak a goal against the run of play. This almost happened in the 68th minute when a rare attack from the home team, saw Ian Rooke chest the ball down in the penalty area, but his shot on the turn went over the bar.
Bovey continued to control the game and deservedly scored a second goal six minutes from time when Jared Lewington fired home from 12 yards.
n This Saturday the first team are at home to Elmore, kick off 3pm. And the reserves visit Mevagissey, kick off at 2pm.
