Esther Rookes has been nominated for Devon Volunteer of the Year; Nathaniel Rookes, Devon Young Coach of the Year and Amber Francis. Devon Young Volunteer of the Year.
Sue Dunstan, vice president of the club said on behalf of the club: ‘Never in the history of Tavistock Swimming Club has a committee member undertaken so many roles in supporting our club.
‘Esther’s commit-ment, knowledge, efficiency and hours of sheer hard work are without equal.
‘I cannot emphasis more highly the truly outstanding level of multi-tasking, expertise and above all enthusiasm, that Esther devotes week in week out to TSC. She is an outstanding candidate for an award in this category.
‘Nathaniel’s exem-plary contribution to the club as a talented fellow swimmer, along with his coaching qualifications, vast enthusiasm and calm manner have seen his development into a true professional.
‘As a young coach, Nathaniel is an inspiration to the swimmers, encouraging them to reach high and believe in themselves. Generous of spirit and wise beyond his years, Nathaniel is a truly remarkable young man.’
‘As a talented, successful and highly valued member of TSC, Amber leads by example, taking her current role as ladies’ vice captain very seriously.
‘For two years since the age of 14, Amber has come straight from school to the poolside, where she assists in coaching and encouraging the Transition Children, who have benefitted from her calm, friendly approach and moved on happily to train with TSC. Amber is an exceptionally well-motivated, enthusiastic and energetic young volunteer.
‘These achievements should also create wide publicity for Tavistock Swimming Club and its members, who under the skilful leadership of our talented and successful head coach, James Lake, are fortunate to benefit from the generosity of time and expertise extended by our volunteer coaches and officials.
‘It is testament to the enthusiasm and talent of our TSC membership, that our adults, club captains, senior swimmers and parents are willing to work so hard on behalf of the club.’
