Newquay 4
Callington Town 0
AN out of sorts Callington Town were put to the sword thanks to the clinical finishing of Newquay, who leaped to the top of the table with this victory at Mount Wise.
Callington have been blowing hot and cold so far this season and their inconsistency troubled them again as they fell behind to a Sam Fearon goal on 14 minutes. Town did recover to have a period of good possession but could not capitalise on it and six minutes before half-time Jordan Annear headed home for 2-0.
The second half started with the Marshmen in better form but they lacked the finishing touch and their attacking play left holes in defence. Callington paid for their profligacy in front of goal when Annear hit his second and the Peppermints’ third on 70 minutes.
Luke Avis-Riordan forced a fine save from Jason Peters in the Newquay goal on 80 minutes but Annear once again capitalised on the counter attack and duly completed his hat-trick on full time with the goal of the game, a 20 yard strike which completed a flattering 4-0 win for Newquay.
