Lamerton CFC 1

Tintagel 5

LAMERTON with 40 players signed on could only muster 12 players for this game. With no goalkeeper in recent weeks Dan Behennah took on the gloves and has been playing well in that position.

Tintagel, who are on Lamerton’s tail in the league, drew 2-2 with them two weeks ago. It looked like it was going to be a hard game with the hosts taking the game to the visitors. Within the first 20 minutes for the visitors’ keeper pulled off some superb saves.

Robbie Court for Lamerton came close along with Sam Hicks but it was Tintagel who took the lead when some great passing led to the winger driving a low shot pass Behennah.

The second came shortly after when Behennah, suffering with a back problem, pulled off a save which led to him getting injured. Player manager Paul Cowling took on the roll to try and keep the score down.

The second half was much the same although the weather got worse. With Tintagel using the slope and the wind to their advantage they soon hit number three when a freak free kick from the halfway line moved in the wind to deceive Cowling who had no chance as it whistled in the back of the net.

Lamerton dug their heals in and never gave up. Hicks and Court came close but it was not going to be the hosts day with the weather setting in along with driving rain Tintagel peppered Lamerton’s goal. The visitors scored two more to finish off their scoring, but up stepped matty Davidson whose free kick fell to top scorer Hicks who fired a header past their out rushing goalkeeper.

Lamerton are now third in the league behind leaders Alturnun and second place Tintagel.
