Devon and Exeter League division three
Chagford 2
Cheriton Fitzpaine 1
CHAGFORD maintained their lead in the table but not until they had been frustrated for much of the match.
The Cherries brought a robust and physical team, set up to stifle their hosts. Even so, Chagford made the breakthrough after 12 minutes as Ben Barkwill netted for the second week running. Cheriton dug their heels in and held the line until Dean Pidgeon equalised for them, just before the break.
The second half saw much of the same, Chagford stymied, Cheriton sticking to their task. Towards the end, visiting players went down with cramps brought on by hard work on a sticky pitch. Time was to favour Chagford as the referee added minutes for all the stoppages.
In the second minute of time added on, Andrew Davis was tripped and a penalty given. Davis took the spot-kick, the ball clipping a post as it went in for the winner.
