Bere Alston United 2
Probus 3
BERE Alston opened brightly and took the lead after 10 minutes when a flowing move resulted in a Probus defender helping a goal bound effort into his own net.
However, that was as good as it got in the first half for Bere as they continually gave the ball away.
From a free kick Probus equalised when Will Westlake missed the centre and the Probus forward came in to score with a simple header. More slack play saw Bere ripped apart down the left for a simple tap in for the visitors.
In the second half Bere Alston committed men forward but with little success. Westlake casually tried to clear the ball but was caught in possession; he then chased back to make amends but as the Probus player shot, Westlake tried to tackle him, only to divert the ball past keeper Craig Mulholland, leaving him flat footed.
Bere made changes as they piled forward but Probus shut up shop and kicked the ball anywhere to see out the time.
A Paul Simpson penalty was the only consolation for the home side.
This was a bad result for Bere, whose poor season continues.
