AFTER 4-0 down with minutes to go in this third round match, goals from Andrew Davis (2) and Tom Stanbury were not enough for Chagford to take the tie to extra time.

Despite hitting the Foxhole crossbar, a post and having a goal wiped out for off-side, Chagford were not to progress further and now need to add to their collection of league points.

AFC Staverton 4

A MUCH improved and tighter Chagford put up a brave fight against higher league opposition from South Devon in this third round (Southern section).

Enjoying a good opening spell, the hosts went ahead when David Jordan met a corner and, unmarked, headed home in the 13h minute.

The game from there became more evenly matched although Pengelly had to be sharp to prevent Staverton from scoring.

Eventually, Lee Clark found a way through and picked up an equaliser for the visitors. This prompted a few minutes of heightened action accumulating in Chagford being awarded a penalty for handball. Rob Thorn calmly scored from the spot to give Chagford a half-time lead.

Staverton came out for the re-start with all guns blazing and quickly restored parity when John Parsons found himself free to head in a 47th minute corner.

Both teams continued to create without forging clear-cut chances until the 80th minute. Clark picked up a loose ball and duly scored his second and Staverton's third.

Chagford pressed forward but were caught on the break with Ashley White stealing a late fourth but flattering goal for Staverton.
