HEAVY overnight rain forced organisers of the Cherrybrook point-to-point in Tavistock on Sunday to reluctantly call the meeting off at 9am on the day of the race.
However, race goers may be interested in another point-to-point horse racing which takes place at Upcott Cross near Halwill Junction this Sunday, where the Eggesford host their meeting.
It promises another great day for all the family, with pony racing heading up the action at 12 noon, and the main seven race card starting at 1pm. More than 120 entries have been received.
The feature race of the day is the Simpkin Edwards sponsored mixed open four mile Devon National. Entries in this include Bellsinni Ron and Round Tom from the Richard Barber team, and the prolific winning mare Lucette Annie trained by Simon Partridge.
Nigel Cant Planning sponsor the opening members' race.There follows The Exeter Racecourse sponsored intermediate. A restricted race, the confined, and two open maiden races which conclude the day's events.
On course facilities include hot refreshments, bar, bookies and trade stands.
Entrance is £10 for car and driver, £20 car and up to four passengers, £25 car and five passengers or over.
