TAKING advantage of the occasional breaks in the cold, wet and windy weather Tavistock Golf Club men’s veterans held a Bowmaker competition.
The winners were veterans’ captain John Harding, Danvers Hough and Brian Williams with 81 points. Second with 78pts Mike Gill, Chris Anderson and Bob Small. Close behind were Ian Gasper, John Hopkins and Tony Russell with 77pts on count back from Paul Congo, John Thewlis and Jim McGregor.
In the Pro Shop Stableford Gene Thompson was first in division one with 37 points, second Lewis Reid 35 pts and third Mike King with 34 pts on count back from John Skinner.
First in division two was Adrian Bunsell on 37pts, second Tom Kelly 36pts and third Tony Cooper 34pts on count back from Paul Reid.
Sixty one golfers played in the men’s monthly medal and topping the first division was Jack Philpotts with nett 69, second Rob Staniland nett 70 on count back from Jon Behennah.
With a nett 70 Harry Hopcroft was first in division two on count back from Chris Morley, third place Gerry Bawden with nett 72 on count back from Paul Reid.
In division three first was Len Scott nett 70, second Kevin Stewart nett 71 on count back from Rob Milligan.
The ladies’ monthly medal was cancelled due to the weather.
