BOTH teams went into this game having secured three points from their opening two matches.
Tavistock started at a high tempo and looked to capitalise on the early possession and territorial advanatge they were enjoying.
The first goal came from forward Jo Gaspar; she found herself in a great position at the back post and was able to slap the ball home, following some fine atacking play in the D from the Tavistock forwards.
The Reds had a few chances to double the lead — Fenwick coming closest with a backhand effort that the keeper was able to kick away.
The home backline of Scott, Mills-Hicks, Pollock and Wood were linking well with centre half Amy Headon — the composure and distributon from the Tavistock back line was the start point for many of their attacks.
The second goal came from Elle Compton. The goal was timed perfectly as it followed a Caradon effort that had hit the post and as the visitors were starting to get themselves into the game, Compton was able to pick the ball up with her back to goal and on the turn slid the ball past the advancing keeper.
The second half saw a similar pattern to the first with the home enjoying the greater possession and looking the more likely to score, Pollock and Lamb senior combining well at a penalty corner but were just unable to convert the chance.
Compton scored her second with a backhand effort that made its way through a crowd of players and with just 15 minutes remaining it effectively sealed the win for Tavistock.
Player of the match Erin Shillaw ran the game late on in the second half; her speed on the ball was causing problems for the away side but the Reds could not add to their goal tally.
