THE season is now well under way at Tavistock Golf Club particularly for three members who all had 'holes in one'.
Jenny Roe hit the first in a mixed match against Thurlestone; then club secretary Jonathan Coe holed his in an away day at Launceston and, completing the trio, Charles Fowler, playing in a club roll up, had a great hole in one on the 14th.
In the men's Alfa Romeo Medal and Devon County Golf Union Salver qualifier scoring was tight but topping division one with a net 67 was Daniel Harris; second Mike Wakely with net 68 and, in third ,Glyn Cunnick with net 69.
In division two first was Steve Andrew net 67; second Barry Shipton net 68 and third Julian Collinson net 69.
In the ladies' Coronation Foursomes Barbara Porter and Myra Sussex scored an excellent 39 points closely followed by runners up Nicky Gawman and Julie Harding with 38pts. Barbara and Myra will represent the club in the final at Cirencester.
The Warren Crocus was played in conjunction with the monthly Stableford — first in division one Bev Ruth with 41pts, second Fran Horton 37pts and third was Donna Gage with 36pts. Peggy Burge was first in division two with 35pts on count back from Carolyn Crawford, Sam Avens and Joan Newland. In division three first was Anne Williams 40pts on count back from Jenny Roe; third Myra Sussex 37pts.
The winning entrants to represent the club in the final at Warren Dawlish were — silver division Fran Horton and Donna Gage and in the bronze division June Kendall and Janet Kiely.
Winner of the lady veterans Margaret McKee 18 hole medal, with a net score of 71, was Val White, runner up was Shirley Trevena with 73.
The ladies' Creasey team had a good home win against Libbaton 5-1 and the juniors team had their second straight win against Staddon Heights with Callum Watkins holing a five foot putt to claim a 3-2 win. Elsie Williams, playing in her first team match, did extremely well partnering Jamie Ninnis to win their match 4 and 3.
