Elburton Villla 2

Tavistock AFC 0

THE Lambs drop into the relegation places after suffering another defeat at the hands of Elburton.

The pitch passed a pitch inspection by the referee at 10.30am for the game to go ahead.

The Lambs had to make changes once again when Jarryd Kelly through illness, and Billy McGowan were not available for selection.

The Lambs got off to a reasonable start on what was a poor playing surface with both sides finding it difficult to control the uneven bounce.

Elburton opened the scoring in the 15th minute when they were awarded a free kick 30 yards from goal. The visitors lined up a defensive wall, but Jordan Trott's shot went through the wall and nestled in the corner of the net.

It was a bad goal to concede defensively and shook the Lambs for a period.

Things got worse for the Lambs in the 30th minute when another defensive error resulted in the hosts doubling their lead.

A scramble in the penalty area saw the ball fall to Trott and his through pass found the unmarked Lee Salmon, who calmly nudged the ball pass Dean Smith into the net.

The remainder of the half saw the Lambs have a couple of half chances, but they could not make them count.

In the second half Tavistock had more than a fair share of the play but they could not break down the home defence. Their approach play was reasonable but there was no cutting edge in the attacking third of the pitch.

Any hopes of the Lambs making a comeback were dashed ten minutes from time when Scott Rennie was red carded for a late challenge on Westlake. This looked a yellow card offence but the referee deemed it to be a straight red card.

In time added on Dean Smith made a smart save to deny Elburton increasing their lead.

This was another disappointing result for the Lambs.

Once gain there was little to choose between the two sides, but defensive errors saw them concede two soft goals. They now need to regroup and resolve these problems.

Although having a fair share of the play it is evident that there is a lack of fire power up front.

Fortunately the Lambs have games in hand on the teams around them but these are games where they must start getting results

Tavistock's man of the match was Josh Robbins.
