Lamerton 3

Torpoint 0

AGAINST a strong Torpoint side Lamerton produced an outstanding team performance to claim the three points.

The hosts started slowly but soon found their stride to dominate the game.

Lamerton opened their account in the 17th minute when Richard Searle played a neat through ball to left winger Simon Kelly who blasted the ball off the post and into the net from ten yards.

Jay Palfreyman, Richard Searle and James Steer were instrumental in midfield for Lamerton and it was their movement and passing that gave Blair Vanstone a chance goal from the right edge of the Torpoint box to make it 2-0 going into the break.

The second half started with Lamerton keeper Ed Bradshaw producing a fine save by tipping the ball over the crossbar from a header six yards out from Torpoint's centre forward.

But Lamerton once again began to dominate. Richard Searle came close for Lamerton midway though the half when his effort just inside the Torpoint box thundered off the crossbar and was cleared to safety by the visitors' defence.

Paul Cowling scored the third in the 70th minute when James Steer played a through ball to him and and he slotted the ball neatly into the back of the net from the edge of the Torpoint box.

Lamerton 2

Stoke Climsland 1

LAMERTON progressed to the second round after a lacklustre performance against the Duchy division two side.

Lamerton had the majority of the possession in the opening stages and in the 20th minute went a goal ahead. James Steer played a ball from the edge of the Stoke Climsland six yard box to stand in centre forward Simon Breyley who from ten yards stuck a left foot shot into the back of the net.

Player Manager Ed Bradshaw scored Lamerton's second on the half hour mark as he bundled the ball home from a corner from Steer.

Stoke Climsland pulled a goal back on the stroke of halftime with a superbly placed shot from the edge of the Lamerton penalty area.

The second half saw both teams struggling to to create any notable opportunities in front of goal and the game fizzled out with Lamerton now facing a trip to Bude in the next round.
