TWO supporters of Lifton Community Centre took to the streets of London to run the marathon earlier this month. It turned out to be a hot day but it did not affect Kevin Marshall or Darren Evans too much. Kevin completed his seventh consecutive London marathon in 3 hours 07 minutes 24 seconds, which he was delighted with as he lost a few weeks of training due to a calf strain. It was Darren's first marathon and he completed in an excellent time of 3.24.38. He enjoyed the experience so much that he has already entered the ballot for next year's event. Both Kevin and Darren are continuing to collect their sponsor money. So far they have raised £1,400 for Lifton Community Centre, which will go towards building the centre. If there is anyone who still wishes to sponsor them, they can do so on http://www.justgiving.com/kevinsmarathon2014">www.justgiving.com/kevinsmarathon2014 or on http://www.justgiving.com/DarrenEvans2014">www.justgiving.com/DarrenEvans2014 . Both runners wish to thank everyone who has sponsored them. Kevin is back into training for his next marathon. On May 25 Kevin and his wife, Lavinia, will be running the Edinburgh marathon, again raising funds for Lifton Community Centre and hoping to take the total raised from running over the past seven years to £14,000.
