TAVISTOCK Squash Club have three teams in the Plymouth Company Squash League and the first games of the season have now been played.

Team one have played three and won one and lost two. They opened against the best team in the league and despite having two of the club’s best players on long term injury they managed to improve on the previous year’s performance.

The second game proved much closer with wins for Steve Tripp and Tom Honey and with Will Westlake losing 14-16 in the fifth game this result could have gone either way. The third game ended in a win 3-2 to give the Team some well-earned points.

Team two have already played four games and with four losses are having a tough start. Despite lots of close games the team has been edged out of most of the matches with only Nigel Eadie managing to win a match so far, however, these have been against tough opposition and so results should be going our way soon.

Team three have played three and like team one have won one and lost two. The opening match against China Fleet three proved a great start with wins for Robin Burdfield, Steve Luxton and Neil Martin, but a strong Devonshire four team proved too good with only Stuart Weatherby winning. Their last game against University three proved close, but with only Stuart Weatherby and Simon Powell wining their games, we lost 2-3.

The team are always looking for new players to get involved, particularly at the first team level, and if you are interested then visit the clubs website at http://tavisquash.org.
