THIS weekend saw Tavistock Triathlon Club out in force with 24 members of the club travelling to Roadford Lake to take part in Freak Events Team Triathlon.

It was a shorter distance than usual but saw every member of the teams of four complete a full triathlon each (400m swim, nine mile cycle and 2.2 mile run). Some members were competing in their first ever triathlon and conditions were tough due to rain, wind and mud!

Four of the teams made it onto the podium winning prizes for their categories.

The ladies’ novice team came third, the men’s novice team came first, the ladies’ open team came third and the mixed veterans’ team came first.

ON Sunday Nathan Newton and Emma Coole from Tavistock Triathlon Club took part in the Plymouth Breakwater Swim which raises money for The Chestnut Appeal —a charity fighting prostate cancer.

It was a 2.2 mile swim back to Tinside beach from Plymouth Breakwater. Nathan was third out the water in 50 minutes and Emma close behind in 59mins.
