FOUR members of the South West Kickboxing Academy from Tavistock were involved in the Martial Arts All Styles Championships held at Guilford Spectrum, Surrey.

Two fighters Andy Melville and Adrian McCarthy were supervised by head coach fourth dan Steve Lilley, and assisted by brown belt Rob Melville from Tavistock, who working in the corners of SWKA fighters.

Andy Melville from Tavistock had his first win in the ring, against a strong fighter from Reading, in a brusing encounter while Adrian McCarthy narrowly lost to an instructor from Reading.

The four enjoyed the experience and Steve Lilley is looking for a member of the club to start pushing on towards a title fight next year for a British Kickboxing Union (BKBU) title bout next year.

The SWKA is also teaming up with Active Villages to start delivering martial arts and self-defence taster sessions in the West Devon region - recently held one at Horribridge Youth Club.
