IN Division one of the Okehampton and District Table Tennis League this week, Anchorage B were at home to Bridestowe.

The visitors went into a 2-0 lead before Colin Brooker did well to beat Phil Down 12-10 in the fifh leg. Bridestowe went on to win the next six singles and the doubles for a 9-1 win with Mark Fogerty and Mark Tancock both scoring maximums.

Tavistock played Okehampton D. In the first game, Zoe Bennett, who was standing in for her brother Luke who was injured, beat Lauren Loosemore, who was playing up from division two, in a hard fought 7-11, 11-8, 12-14, 12-10, 11-6. Nick Davies then pulled one back for Tavistock against Sarah Jackson. Davies went on to score a maximum but Mari Baldwin pushed him all the way in his last singles, just losing out 11-7 in the fifth leg. Bennett did well to beat the more experienced Peter Hicks in a tight 4-11, 14-12, 12-10, 3-11, 14-12 before Loosemore replied by beating Jackson. Tavistock took the doubles for a hard fought 6-4 win.

Okehampton C played club rivals Okehampton D. Joe Yarde-Buller, playing for the first time in the league, beat Zoe Bennett 11-4 in the fifth leg and went to score a fine maximum for the D side. Josh Parsons pulled one back for the C team against Eli Holt before Mari Baldwin replied by beating Cameron Brooking. Baldwin went on to score another maximum and joined Holt to take the doubles for a 7-3 win for Oke D.

In the last division one match, North Wyke played Bridestowe. Both teams could only field two players and Bridestowe took all games played.

In division two, Okehampton G were at home to Horrabridge B. Alex Cunningham beat Will Ash and Matthew Dowie beat Morgan Holt to put Horrabridge 2-0 ahead. Tom Chastey pulled one back for Okehampton against Myles Pinkney before Horrabridge stepped up a gear and took the next five singles. Ash won the last singles against Dowie and Okehampton took the doubles giving a final 7-3 win for Horrabridge.

Okehampton E played club rivals Okehampton F. The E side of Eli Holt, Alfie East and Lauren Loosemore proved too good and went on to a 10-0 win.

In another all Okehampton affair, the E side played the G side. This time, the E team did not have things all their own way with Will Ash winning two singles and Morgan Holt winning one for the G team. Loosemore secured another maximum for the E side and teamed up with East to take the doubles for an eventual 7-3 win.

The last division two match, Okehampton E were at home to league leaders Milton Abbot who raced into a 5-0 lead before Lauren Loosemore beat George Anderson in a hard fought 6-11, 11-8, 11-7, 11-7. Tom Doidge and Tim Westcott completed their maximums before Alfie East won the last singles against Anderson. Doidge and Westcott teamed up to beat Loosemore and East in the doubles for a convincing 8-2 win.
