FOUR Okehampton Smallbore Club members, Paul Batten, Bernard Rendle, Martin Elliott and Amanda Elliot, competed at the 90th National Small-bore Rifle meeting 2013 held at Bisley, Surrey.
The event, held over nine days draws 900 competitors together from all over the country and is open to all NSRA members.
Okehampton's top shooter Paul was in class A, Bernard was in class C and Martin and Amanda, at their first Bisley in Class D.
It was a wonderful week, full of ups, downs, excitement, enjoyment and camaraderie.
The biggest 'up' for Paul was to be chosen by the Devon County captain to shoot and represent Devon, joining five other top Devon marksmen in the 'County Sextette' competition. 23 teams from counties across the country went forward to shoot with Devon winning the competition.
Paul Batten said: 'It is a difficult competition to win because every member on the team has to be shooting at their absolute best, at the same moment.'
Okehampton Club's Martin Elliott had an excellent week – he won the over 65 year veterans class and won promotion to the C class in the aggregate shooting.
Amanda Elliot was second in the Times Trophy 100 yard competition while she and Martin were third in classes C and D combined.
