OKEHAMPTON MEN’S FIRSTS 5
TAVISTOCK MEN’S FIRSTS 1
OKEHAMPTON welcomed Tavistock for the local derby game and the visitors started strongly with an early score on the counter attack.
The home side rallied and began to pick up the pace and it was not long before a short corner was awarded which was duly despatched by Oke captain Liversidge to level the scores.
Shortly afterwards, Okehampton were awarded another penalty corner and Gers stepped forward; a clinical stop from Speak enabled Liversidge to rifle the ball into the top corner.
The second half set off much the same with Okehampton dominating the play; their defence was solid and it wasn’t long before the home side added to their score a sublime pass from Speak resulting in a solid strike into the bottom corner from Miller.
Oke pressed on and continued to apply pressure which resulted in another short corner. Captain and man of the match Liversidge stepped up for his hat-trick and, without any hesitation, converted the chance.
Tavistock fought their way back into the game attacking the Okehampton defence who soaked up the pressure with Westlake protecting his goal with some excellent saves. Now playing with more freedom, Oke moved the ball around the pitch and a mazy run from Morgan laid the ball off to Paterson to score goal number five.
