FOR the second year running a member of Okehampton Smallbore Club has won the prestigious Truman trophy.
Last year it was the club’s secretary Di Johnson who shot the best to win — this year it was club member Paul Batten, who after a series of hard fought knockout stages made it to the final.
The final was against Lawrence Bennie of Manaton. Both shooters performed well in a high stress environment in a closely fought shoot off. The final outcome with was close with only one point separating the competitors at the end, Lawrence 98 and Paul 99!
Club chairman Jason Ponsford was delighted that the Truman Trophy had been retained by a member of the club, who incidentally won the same trophy way back in 1972!
Jason said: ‘Congratulations Paul, you have done yourself and the club proud once again.’
