THE annual Peter Bartlett Youth Regatta will be taking place at Roadford Lake on September 17.
The event aims to introduce new sailors to racing and support and encourage those looking to improve their skills and techniques.
This fun day of sailing, for novice to advanced sailors aged 8 to 18, will run from 10am to 4pm.
Matt Lennox, the venue’s centre manager, said ‘The annual Peter Bartlett Cup encourages and develops young sailors into racing and is always a great day on the water.
‘This year entrants will be split into two fleets, by experience, and there is a range of prizes available including cash prizes and those donated by the event sponsors including Ambrosia.’
This event is in honour of Peter Bartlett MBE who was the first patron of South West Lakes Trust and held the position of chairman of the Royal Yachting Association for the South West region for 15 years.
‘As past commodore of Brixham Yacht Club he promoted watersports for disabled people and emphasised that age should not be a barrier in taking up sailing.’
