WEST Devon runners are being asked to join in a fundraiser for St Luke's Hospice to coincide with its 30th anniversary and as part of the celebrations for the London Olympics.
'Run the Shops 2012' over three days, April 26, 27 and 28 - will see volunteer runners carry a lighted torch in relay from the hospice at Turnchapel, near Plymouth to visit each of its shop in turn - a distance of 120 miles between 9am to 4.30pm.
There are at 34 shops in the area including those at Tavistock and Callington. The three St Luke's shops in Tavistock will be visited on the second day, with runners expected to be arriving on the Friday, April 27 around 12.15pm.
Organisers Barry and Sandra Hopper, volunteer ambassador for St Luke's said: 'Participants can run as individuals, as part of a group or club, and may run more than one stretch if desired. The torch relay will finish in Drake, the Hospice shop in Cornwall Street Plymouth on the Saturday.
