RUNNERS Kevin Marshall and Darren Evans are taking part in the London Marathon on Sunday, April 13 to raise funds for Lifton Community Centre.
Darren, a Launceston based postman, will be running his first marathon; he started training before Christmas and he runs four days a week as well as walking six miles a day on his postal round.
Kevin, who runs two to three times a week and trains once a week with Matt Luxton of FA Fitness, said: 'My training isn't going as well as I would like but Darren and I are looking forward to the run and would love to raise at least £1,500 for the Community Centre.
'Every penny we and the community raise will certainly be looked at favourably by the lottery commission when they consider the application so please help us if you can. I know money is tight at the moment but every penny really does help.'
Sponsorship forms are in Lifton village stores and S T Lane Tinhay.
Both runners have set up online sponsorship pages Darren at http://www.justgiving.com/DarrenEvans2014 ">www.justgiving.com/DarrenEvans2014 ; and Kevin at the website http://www.justgiving.com/kevinsmarathon2014">www.justgiving.com/kevinsmarathon2014
In the last few years more than £12,000 has been raised by sponsored runs.
