ON a week that also had OCRA cricket county finals, an orienteering and adventure day and a triathlon, numbers were low for the first West Devon and South Hams Primary Schools’ rounders tournament.

Only one team from West Devon and South Hams is allowed to enter the county finals so Stowford and Newton Ferrers, who were the top two teams in South Hams, made the journey to Okehampton College to take on the West Devon teams of St Andrew’s A, B and C, Boasley Cross, Lydford and Exbourne.

Young sports leaders from the college ably umpired and scored the games and Stowford were the winners with Newton Ferrers, the runners up and St Andrew’s C third.
