THE Devon and Exmoor Sheepdog Society held its trials at Week Farm, Brentor, at the weekend.
The judge was Tony Griffiths from Lydney on the Saturday and 53 ran while on the Sunday, the judge was Angie Blackmore from Ledbury, 55 ran.
The day started well but deteriorating weather including wind, rain and mist meant that the last 6 dogs were unable to run as neither the judge nor the handlers were able to see up the field. Handlers huddled in the refreshment trailer hoping for improvement, but none came.
The sheep were difficult to hold at the top, but ran well and offered handlers some challenge at the pen.

On Sunday: 1, Jed Watson, Postbridge, Mirk 92; 2, Jed Watson, Postbridge, Sweep 91; 3, David Cole, Bittaford, Sanduck Moss 91; 4, Dick Roper, Northleach, Pete 84; 5, Katie Cropper, Shap, Tsavo 84; 6, Katie Cropper, Shap, Zac 83.
n On Saturday the sheep dog trials continue at Plaister Down playing fields, Horrabridge.
Spectators are welcome, gates open at 8am and the trials start at 9am. The agility courses start at 10.30am and a family dog show at 12.30pm.
