THERE were many happy faces at Tamar and Tavy Gig Club at its ‘fun day’ earlier this month, helped by the sunny weather.
The Brunel race went ahead as planned with three crews taking part and racing down to the Tamar Bridge and back again. There was a close finish with just 23 seconds between all three boats — the men’s team coming in first with the ladies’ veterans 11 seconds behind and the ladies’ scratch crew coming in a further 12 seconds back. It resulted in great racing and a few sore muscles.
The juniors throwing down the gauntlet to all comers for a race.
So two adult crews were put together to take up the challenge, the result was a resounding win by the junior crew and with the two losing boats having to admit defeat to youth.
The club thanked Lynn Renton for organising a great event.
