Tavistock Reserves 3
Saltash United 0
THIS was a good game of football with little to choose between the two sides, until Saltash United's Matt Glendenning was sent off after picking up a second yellow card shortly after the interval.
The first half was a typical local derby with both teams playing some really attractive football. It was the home team that started the brighter and Ian Rook was unlucky when his shot glanced off the crossbar to safety, with the keeper well beaten. The visitors came more into the game after the first quarter and the Lambs keeper was called upon to make two smart saves to deny them from taking the lead.
In the 30th minute once again Rook was unlucky when he lobbed the keeper, but once again his shot hit the bar and rebounded to safety. It continued end to end up to the interval, but neither side could break the deadlock. After Glendenning's sending off the Lambs made the extra man tell and with good possession put the visitors' defence under considerable pressure, and it was no surprise when a fine through ball from Kelly found Ryan Moorhead, and the youngster calmly rounded the keeper to open the scoring.
Midway through the second half the Lambs produced a magnificent passing move involving six players, which ended with Sam Shepheard finding Kevin Hatch, who fired home from a tight angle. Five minutes later Jarryd Kelly, returning from injury, made the game safe and completed the scoring with a fine drive from 10 yards.
This was a very good performance from the Lambs reserves and there are a number of the team that are now pushing for a call up to the first team.
The referee made numerous bookings during the game, but there was not a really bad tackle throughout the 90 minutes.
