Devon seconds B West

TAVISTOCK hosted Abbotskerswell on a dull day at The Ring with this match being the only one to be played in the division.

Abbots batted first and Tavistock's opening bowlers Mark Hopkins and David Milligan took early wickets, Connor Adams batting at number 6 held the innings together with a fluent 59; good bowling in the middle of the innings kept Abbots to 171, a par score for the conditions. Mark Hopkins 4-32, David Milligan 2-16 and Andy Gauler's 2-29 were the pick of the bowlers.

Tavistock's reply was steady. Phil Bees and Rob Milligan got into double figures before departing and at 79-2 Tavistock were well placed.

An unfortunate run out of James White led to a mini collapse to 126 for 8 before veteran Andy Gauler and Nick Coe steadied the ship and built a partnership of 46 to ensure a thrilling, if unlikely win.

Coe was 23 not out and Andy Gauler 29 not out, giving Tavistock 18 points.
