Bude ladies 0
TAVISTOCK started with only 11 players this week. However, with determination to overcome the few numbers, the home side started hard, fast and furious.
Within the first five minutes Hannah Nevin ran into the D, slipped the ball to Laura Armstrong who hit it into the goal. From defence Laura Colwill ran the ball down the left wing and passed to Armstrong, who went on to score Tavistock’s second goal.
Bude came back, and were lucky to be awarded a penalty short corner. Tavistock’s defence held strong and Jenny Lane bravely deflected the strike.
Robynne Fenwick and Jo Gasper were not going to allow Bude another attempt on goal. With great speed from Fenwick and great decision making from Gasper, Tavistock took the ball into Bude’s D and Fenwick flicked the ball straight into the corner for their third goal.
After half time Tavistock were unfortunate to lose George Patterson to injury, meaning the side were down to ten players for the rest of the game.
Janice Scott took up Patterson’s legacy and worked hard to maintain the pressure in the centre. Thanks to Maddie Jones, Tavistock’s goal keeper, Bude did not score although Fenwick, on several occasions, saved the day by stopping attempts on the line.
Alex Davis held strong in defence and pushed the ball forward to Lois Thornton; she danced the ball around Bude’s defenders and passed to Fenwick, who hit the ball straight into the goal.
This was an excellent win for Tavistock.
Tavistock thank their supporters this week, especially those who came all the way from Newtownards, Ireland.
