TWENTY one runners from Tavistock AC took part in one of the toughest 10k runs in Devon on Saturday, the Bere Pen 10k.

The 10k (6.2) mile course is known as ‘three down, three up’ because after the course starts in Bere Alston and runners speed three miles down the lanes to Weir Quay and then after a short run along the banks of the beautiful Tamar it is the long, grinding, teeth gritting three mile climb back to Bere Alston.

Not only did Tavistock AC have a good turnout, but they worked with their neighbours Bere Alston Trekkers to provide catering and a couple of marshals.

TAC athletes picked up four individual awards as well with Martin Exley-Deane picking up first male 50; David Twine first male 60; Lucie Prior, first female Under 20 and Tracey Oxborough first female 50. All the Tavistock athletes agreed that the race had been more popular than ever and went home with well earned smiles on their faces.
