MEMBERS of the the Lamerton and District Darts League enjoyed a great night out when they held their presentation evening on Friday at Gunnislake Social Club.

The league ‘got off the oche’ in the 1960s and has played continuously ever since and is one of the oldest darts’ leagues in the district.

The league plays on a Friday night and is made up from pubs and clubs in the Lewdown, Tavistock, Bere Alston, Gunnislake, Callington, Launceston and the surrounding area.

Lesley Wilgar, the league’s secretary, told the Times: The success of the league has been accomplished by the hard work and dedication of previous committee management and we thank them for all their hard work. This season, 2015/2016, sees the Lamerton and District Darts League under a completely new management committee with Martin Nicholas as chairman and Dave Jones as treasurer.

‘Finding, replacing or mending original perpetual trophies has been our main goal this season, some of these trace back to the 1960s. Next season we are hoping to start another division to be played on a different evening.’

Lesley added: ’We are a very friendly league, and our darts evenings are always fun, social and enjoyable and all venues make us feel very welcome. We are always looking for new teams and venues to join us, and in so doing supporting the pub and club trade.

’If you wish to participate in the league then please visit our web-site lamertondarts.co.uk and go to the ‘contact us’ page. Or join in the chat on our facebook page www.facebook.com/Lamertondarts/ where you can have your say on all things pertaining to darts and the league.’
