TRISH Deykin from Milton Combe took part in the South Hams Triathlon at Blackpool Sands on Sunday.
The event consisted a 750m swim in the sea, a 18.5k bike ride with the first bit a 2.5 miles uphill to Dartmouth followed by a 5k technical run.
Trish managed to come second out of the swim which included lots of men competitors.
She said she is thankful to Mount Kelly Swim Centre as they let her use their facilities for free adding ‘my hard work training in such a wonderful pool has paid off.’
In the end she finished in a time of 1 hour 11 minutes 30 seconds and came in fourth overall (which included the men) and first female. This bodes well for the European Championships in Glasgow in August which will also be her last International race as after 10 years when Trish will be retiring from the International circuit.
