Yelverton seconds v Shoebrooke Park seconds
YELVERTON Seconds took on Shobrooke Park seconds at Langton Park on Saturday. Asked to bat first, Yelverton lost the wickets of openers Gavin Jones and Lee Johns early on to leave them on 22-2.
The third wicket pair of Ian Loze and Gerry Keen put on 71 for the third wicket before Loze fell lbw for 34. Keen was joined by Tom Watkins and the pair put on 109 for the fourth wicket with Keen falling for a well played 66 with the total on 212-4.
Watkins looked to push on to his century but fell 12 runs short when he was bowled for 88. The Bohemians declared on 246-6. an Pyle took 3-61 for the visitors.
In reply, the Shobrooke batsmen found runs hard to come by, losing a wicket off the first ball of the second over of their reply to skipper Chris Pearson (1-14). The spin of Gavin Jones was also proving too difficult to handle and he picked up three wickets for 13 runs to leave Shobrooke Park on 28-4 when light rain brought the game to a premature end, the umpires deeming the ground conditions unfit for further play.
