WEST Devon A bounced back from their first game of the season in the Tavistock Snooker League reversal with a solid win against West Devon C.
Morris dismantled the C Team’s Elliott while Rich for the A Team followed in the same vein, as he confined Williams to his chair for the best part of the frame while he ratcheted up a large winning score line.
The West Devon C, however, showed some spirit in the next frame with the wily Hodge taking out the highly rated Heathman in a tight low scoring frame.
Taylor got his first win of the season under his belt at the expense of Grigg, and with it came the winning frame for the West Devon A side. Lawrence continued his positive brand of snooker, and on this occasion it paid dividends for him as he put the in form Shrimpton in his place, and stretched the West Devon A team’s winning margin to 4-1.
It was an evening of under achievement for the Conservative Z team, despite a promising start to the season. However, this is not to take anything away from Conservative B, who went about their job in a methodical and workmanlike manner to take the four points.
First to the table was Con Z Team’s Jankowski who built up a commanding lead against Moloney, who performed a sterling job to reduce the deficit and take it to a black ball game; but Jankowski held his nerve and took the frame. Ewings for Con B team had a shaky start against Fitzsimmons; he began to gain in confidence and turned the game around in his favour and took the point. Symons for the Con Z Team lost out to McKechnie (junior) 20-49.
Flack for Con Z team never really looked on top of his frame against M. Evans as the latter Evans did enough to get over the line. Con Z’s ‘ever reliable’ and steady McKechnie (senior) struggled against Lillicrap, who like all his team-mates grew in confidence as the game progressed. This was a well-deserved win for the Conservative B team.
