WEST Devon D kept their recent run of winning form in the Tavistock Snooker League going with a close 3-2 win over West Devon B.
Ward got things going for the D team with a useful win over Bath, only for the B team to draw level with Daniel Rich producing an eye catching performance to get the better of the dangerous Paul Shrimpton, by taking the black ball to seal it.
Spurred on by Rich’s win, skipper Gilchrist took the B team in front with a high scoring 69 points over Decieco, this despite missing several easy pots early on.
With the normal ‘safe pair of hands’ Hoar on next, the B team could have been forgiven for thinking that the game was all but in the bag. This, however, did not come to pass as Murton for the D team pulled off the result of the evening to capitalise on an uncharacteristically limp performance from Hoar. The decider was never in doubt as in form Pinkney (22) rattled off the last frame to breeze past Blewit and take the match for West Devon D.
The Golf Club B team gained a valuable point in this outing against Conservative Z, as a new team in the league they have struggled to pick up points against the more established teams and it certainly will not hurt their confidence for the future. Hodge for the Con Z fell behind to an aggressive Congo, who was in front for the best part of the frame but a wily Hodge gradually clawed his way back into the game to take the win.
Treble for Golf put up a decent performance against Hall, who has had a crisis of confidence this season but still managed to get the desired result, albeit with a struggle. Mayors played superbly well against Hough notching up a break of 25 on his way to victory and a final score of 71 -7.
Jankowski, another Con Z player who has struggled this season to produce his best, took the lead against Goble and refused to relinquish his position despite a strong challenge from his opponent. Symons struggled from the off against Golf B’s Appleton in a rather insipid and disappointing display; Appleton beat Symonds by outplaying his opponent at every turn to gain his team the vital point.
