AN animal sanctuary in West Devon is proud to announce its new vehicle for all animals, drivers and passengers. The Margaret Green Foundation Trust (MGFT) Animal Sanctuary, Wingletang in Heathfield, near Tavistock, has been supplied with a new vehicle after its old original ambulance, purchased second hand in 1998, had to be replaced. All three sanctuaries of the foundation, Church Knowle in Dorset, Lincoln Farm in Surrey, and Wingletang, had to replace all its vehicles at the same time. Unfortunately, the ambulances became unroadworthy, failed MOTs and needed a lot of work which was not cost-effective. So the foundation supplied all three sites with new vehicles, at a monthly rate, to ensure safe travel, with each one accommodating a minimum of ten animals. The foundation?s head office is at Church Knowle and consists of fields, stabling, intensive nursing units, catteries and vegetable gardens. The site is open all year to the public and has an education suite for visiting schools. The foundation works in association with special needs groups with a variety of projects. Its main objective is the provision of lifetime care to retired and long-term resident animals, and the rescue and rehoming of animals who have been rescued through being unwanted, abandoned, ill-treated or through local authority stray dog contracts. MGFT is a respected regional rescue organisation and is recognised for its care and support in rescue and rehoming animals.
