TAVISTOCK Foodbank has received much-needed storage space after it ran out of room to hold its food stocks.
West Devon Borough Council stepped in to help the foodbank as its stocks had reached such healthy levels that volunteers were worried that they would not have anywhere to store their food stocks.
The borough council said it was delighted to offer help and support by identifying a suitable space for the foodbank to store its food and making this easily available.
The charity can now continue to provide much needed help for those in Tavistock who desperately need a lifeline.
Cllr Steve Hipsey, West Devon Borough Council ward member for Tavistock North, who has been working closely with the foodbank, said: ‘I’m pleased to have been able to work with borough council officers to arrange suitable storage facilities for the foodbank.
‘It is so important that the council can help a community group who has put in so much hard work during the current Covid-19 crisis.
‘The volunteers at the foodbank have worked incredibly hard throughout to support the most in need in our local community and they deserve all the help and support we can offer them.’
Linda Medland from Tavistock Foodbank said: ‘I went to see the space offered to us and it is perfect for what we need! Thank you so much for all that you did on our behalf. I am so grateful for the council’s support of the help we offer local people. It’s great news!’
