WEST Devon clubs have been invited to take part in the Blackthorn British Skittles Championships.

The closing date for applications for the regional rounds is April 10 with three main team events - men's, ladies and mixed. Last year more than 160 of the best teams in the country took part to compete for a share of more than ££6,000, with Devon side Millbrook sports and social club in Totnes crowned as men's champions. There were other county successes in the indiviidual entries.

This year the grand final is to be held at the Riviera International Conference Centre, Torquay on Saturday, October 1.
