GUESTS from all over West Devon and as far away as Germany joined in a special event in Tavistock last Friday, celebrating the diamond anniversary of one of the town's sports clubs.
Tavistock Hockey Club members old, present and new were joined by sportsmen and women from a variety of other sports organisations and the mayors of West Devon and Tavistock in celebrating, enjoying live music and a hog roast at The Wharf.
Phil Honey, hockey club chairman, said: 'It was a great night — I think everyone really enjoyed themselves.
'It was particularly good to see such a wide range of ages coming together — it made for a lovely atmosphere.
'It was also nice to meet one of the founding members, Inez Pennington, who helped form the club in 1946, and to be joined by president Rodney Hodge, another true club stalwart.'
Phil thanked everyone for supporting the club's special day, and paid particular tribute to Phil Edwards and Bridget Passmore for organising the party, and the Wharf for being such splendid hosts.
