TEAMS put their best collective feet forward on Friday night to raise money for Children in Need in this year's Okehampton Round Table five-legged race.
Teams of four were tied at the ankle and raced around the pubs in town, setting off from the Plymouth Inn. Each team member had to consume a drink at each pub visited on the route, and everyone's collective efforts raised over £1,600. Each team received a bottle of Cava from Waitrose for their efforts.
James Stevens from Okehampton Round Table said: 'Once again it was a really good night, and by raising over £1,600 we think we have raised the highest ever total for the five-legged race.
'The team from the Manor House Hotel deserve a special mention for their efforts, as they managed to raise a magnificent £1,000 for the event. Everyone involved on the night did a great job raising money for a great cause.'
Okehampton Round Table expressed thanks to all participants, the pubs of Okehampton for supporting the event, Waitrose, Bovey Castle, Stevens Estate Agents and Ashbury Hotel for donating prizes, and all supporters.
The money raised will help disadvantaged children across the UK.
Friday night's telethon raised a record £26.7 million, and the total is expected to rise over the coming weeks.
