FORAGER Chris Holland is to visit Tavistock on Saturday, March 14 as part of Transition Tavistock's annual meeting.
Chris has an encyclopaedic knowledge of wild food and where to find it.
His playful nature and natural storytelling ability add up to first-class entertainment. The relaxed style of his presentation makes this event suitable for young children and engaging for adults too.
He will lead a walk around the town, starting at 2pm, from the Parish Rooms in Plymouth Road.
This will be a gentle stroll with plenty of stops to examine, taste, smell, identify and also learn what not to eat.
Surprisingly, there is an abundance of wild food around the Meadows that people pass without noticing. The walk is expected to take about an hour, so dress accordingly, but in the event of highly unsuitable weather an alternative indoor presentation will replace the published meander.
Tickets for this event are £4 in advance or £5 at the door. Primary age children are free.
This event forms part of Transition Tavistock's celebration of local food.
Exhibitors will promote what is available within a short distance from Tavistock. Children's food-based activities and competitions will also form part of this exhibition. Entry is free.
A light lunch will be available at the Parish Rooms from 12.30pm.
All of this will be conventional, locally-sourced produce. In addition, Chris has agreed to cook one of his recipes, with wild food, as a 'taster sample' before his walk.
Following the walk, refreshments will be on sale.
The event will conclude with a short annual meeting, to which all are invited.
This is an opportunity to find out more of the activities of Transition Tavistock.
