HORRABRIDGE Primary School has been raising money for The National Autistic Society by completing sponsored laps of the school playground in a variety of inventive ways.
These included three-legged running, cycling, scooting and dribbling foot or hockey balls. The most inventive ideas, however, were playing a guitar all the way around, doing ballet around the playground and completing laps blindfolded!
Children, staff and parents also donated cakes to sell after school to swell the funds raised for the charity.
In addition, the children learnt about autism in a whole school assembly. They then participated in activities which encouraged them to think about how everyone is different and special. They painted pebbles which will form part of an art installation outside the school and decorated gingerbread people to all look unique just like them.
Thanks were expressed to businesses who donated resources enabling the school to run these activities.
Palladium Builders Merchants donated all of the pebbles needed for the pebble painting and school stationery supplier, Consortium, provided paints and paintbrushes.
