A NINE-year old boy from Milton Abbot who ran ten miles in memory of his baby brother Indiana has managed to help raise more than £720 for charity. Dante Oakley, a Gulworthy Primary School pupil, ran around Burrator Reservoir accompanied by his father Steve Oakley on his bike. After the death of his four-month-old brother Indiana on April 22, 2013, Dante and his family came up with a ten mile run for 'Indi Day'. Dante's siblings Vincent and Wenzday also did what they could for charity in memory of their brother by holding a non uniform day at Gulworthy and Lamerton primary schools, and holding a cake sale. Steve and Ally Oakley, Indiana's parents, suggested proceeds should go to Devon Air Ambulance as they know first hand how much the charity was stretched. Steve said: 'We owe a big thank-you to Melody Nichols, head teacher at both Lamerton and Gulworthy schools, for allowing us to have a non-school uniform day and for Wenzday's cake sale. 'Thank our relatives, our friend Livvy, Hotel Endsleigh, Richard and Ellie, Hardicott Shoot, J Sanders Scrap Metal Recyclers, and John and Una Medland. 'We are amazed at the response to our first Indi Day and hope it will go from strength to strength each year.'
