FOLLOWING the Times report of April 24 of the acquisition of Lewtrenchard Manor by Von Essen Hotels, we have been asked to point out the following:

The Lewtrenchard Estate, comprising approximately 800 acres and including Lewtrenchard Manor and its grounds, is owned by the Baring-Gould Corporation.

The corporation is controlled and owned by descendants of the Rev Sabine Baring-Gould. The corporation has granted a new 30-year lease of Lewtrenchard Manor and its grounds to Von Essen Hotels. The ownership of the freehold of the whole estate remains with the Baring-Gould Corporation.

Mr and Mrs James Murray were the previous tenants of Lewtrenchard Manor.
