MEAN-spirited thieves have stolen the lights from a Christmas tree on Yelverton roundabout, leaving parish councillors sad.
Christmas lights were placed on two trees on the main roundabout on December 6 — a cheerful sight to villagers and hundreds of motorists who pass by each day.
A few days ago, parish councillors, who provide the lights, noticed that the lights were not working on one tree.
After a closer look they discovered that the lights had gone from the tree.
Chairman of Buckland Monachorum Parish Council, which includes Yelverton, Ric Cheadle said : 'We have been decorating the trees for years and never had a problem before.
'Not only has someone stolen the lights but they have also damaged the tree in the process.
'What a thoroughly anti-social thing to do at this time of year.'
