IN a pre season friendly Lewdown Cricket Club's second XI visited Kenn on a lovely spring afternoon.
Having won the toss Lewdown batted first with Olly Brown 56 retired, Peter Cooper 22 rtd, Harry Geering 51 rtd, Rob Squire 30 rtd, Sam Spry 20 all contributing to a total of 277 for the loss of three wickets. The highlight of the innings was young Luke Miller scoring his maiden 50, with a four off the last ball of the innings.
In reply, tight Lewdown bowling from Geering, Cooper and Squire restricted the Kenn scoring rate.
It was the introduction of 'man of the moment' Luke Miller that changed the game. Bowling with good discipline he took four wickets for 23 runs, with all of the bowlers performing well on their first outing.
Lewdown seconds are looking forward to their new challenges this season, having entered the Devon second XI's championship.
